Professional development and team-building for elected councils
We offer a range of workshops for the elected body which can be delivered in person or online. These workshops are an ideal supplement to your local council’s induction and professional development programs.
Working together and dealing with differences
Every elected body is a unique collection of individuals with different experiences and viewpoints who need to govern a large and complex organisation. This workshop gives councillors the opportunity to come together as a team to develop skills to effectively work together and deal with differences.
Acting ethically when making decisions
Using practical examples and real life dilemmas, this workshop will give councillors the skills and knowledge to understand and apply their ethical obligations under the Code of Conduct including when and how to disclose and manage conflicts of interests.
Making Council meetings efficient and effective
Using practical examples and real life meeting scenarios, this workshop will give councillors an introduction to the Code of Meeting Practice and the skills and knowledge needed to effectively prepare for and participate in council meetings.
Introduction to NSW planning system
The purpose of this workshop is to develop councillors’ knowledge and understanding of the NSW planning system so that they can make sound planning decisions. In the workshop, councillors will acquire the core knowledge to navigate and make decisions in the NSW planning system.
Ethical and effective use of social media
This workshop will give councillors the skills needed to effectively and ethically navigate social media, avoiding the risks and challenges and capitalising on the many benefits. It is ideal at the start of a new council term or as a refresher part way through.
Pre-election information session
This session is for community leaders considering whether to run in the local government election. It helps people decide whether to nominate for the election and if so, what to expect if they are elected.
